According to a survey done by the Travel Industry Association, the American Automobile Association and the Canadian Automobile Association, we solo travelers are not alone. Well, I mean there are a lot of us.
The survey estimates that about 35 million adults in the U.S. travel by themselves. Wow – that’s a big number.
35% of solo travelers are between the ages of 18 and 35, 27% are between 35 and 49, 26% are 50 to 64 and, finally, 12% are 65 and older.
This is really interesting. Consider how many people you know who say that they want to wait until they retire before traveling. Granted, many of them expect to be traveling with companions at that point. But, if they are divorced or widowed, it doesn’t appear that they are traveling solo.
Women choose Hawaii and the Caribbean as top vacation spots though I would expect these to be romantic spots to go with a mate. I suppose if you’re lookin’ for love, perhaps these aren’t bad destinations after all 🙂
Happy Travels!
