Got a tax refund coming this year? Have you considered what you’ll do with it?
Over the weekend I heard a radio program in which people were interviewed about what they will do with their tax return. Responses included “spending it on my grandkids” and “I spent it before I got it”. It prompted me to think about my own refund (got the good news from my accountant on Friday that I will get a refund but not sure how much yet).
Although I loathe paying quarterly taxes and guessing at how much I might owe for the year, this is kinda like found money. I wasn’t expecting a refund but very excited to be getting it. If I had known I’d be getting a refund, I probably would have filed my taxes two months ago :-).
So, what will I do? Travel, of course!
In my book, Wanderlust and Lipstick, I advise women that you can make your dream trip happen if you set your mind to it. I have two places that I’ve always wanted to go but realize that to get there properly (with a tour and/or personal guide), it will be expensive so I’ve been waiting for, I don’t know what, before I really start planning one of these trips. The two countries are Papua New Guinea and the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest.

You heard it here first. I’ll make the commitment to start saving for one of these dream trips. I’ll put my intentions out there and will keep you posted as opportunities present themselves for me to get myself to one of these locations.
Now, what will YOU do with YOUR tax refund?
Happy Travels!
