I’m not the kind of gal who has to have a bag for every occassion. I like to keep my clothes and accessories to a minimum and keep the cash for my travels.
I did, however, recently add the Ameribag to my collection, and am glad to have it as an option for when I don’t want to carry a full-size backpack but need more room than my purse can accommodate.
I first tested it out when I attended a Seattle travel/technology event called SCOOT. This was a consortium of folks with feet in both the travel and the technology worlds co-hosted by Pam from NerdsEyeView.
Anyhoo, back to the bag.
In my Ameribag I was able to carry 4 Wanderlust and Lipstick books, my cell phone, wallet, a couple of pens and a camera. There was plenty room for more, too.
While the bags are made in a variety of materials, sizes and shapes, mine is made of lightweight, water resistant microfiber. The best feature is that the Ameribag totes hang asymmetrically and redistribute the weight through the length of the whole back. Ultimately, it takes stress off of your shoulders, neck and back. Great if you’re going to spend the day sightseeing and don’t want your pack weighing you down.
The interior includes lots of pockets, both zippered and open, allowing you to easily organize and access small items.
The bag has a rather large opening which ends up sitting under your arm and while this is a deterrent for someone who may consider trying to get into your bag, you’ll still want to keep this close to your body or carry the bag over your head and shoulder so that it can’t be snatched away.
I’m pretty darn excited to use this in my travels and around town.
Travel Well,
Beth

Solo Road Trip says
I’ve had a leather one for 4 years. It’s fantastic. Cannot tell it’s been carted all over the world, thrown into the back of trucks, sat on in buses, used as a pillow. It was a great investment and if it ever wears out, I’ll buy another.
