I was planning on writing a roundup of several bags for this week’s post but I so fell in love with the Ameribag Carry-All daybag that I had to give it its own space. First, let me start by saying that though I liked the smaller bag that I previously reviewed, this one I love. LOVE, I tell you.
As with all Ameribags, it conforms to the natural curve of your back so that you can avoid the back and shoulder pain that comes with carrying some daybags over one shoulder (don’t we all do that most of the time?). Ultimately, it takes stress off of your shoulders, neck and back. Great if you’re going to spend the day sightseeing and don’t want your pack weighing you down.
That’s all great, but let me tell you why this one’s coming with me over the holidays:
- The larger size means I can slip my laptop inside. Though it’s got a rounded bottom, it can sit flat enough that the bag won’t fall over if sitting on the floor.
- There are both mesh and sleeve pockets inside where I can easily keep my cell phone, iPod, pens, passport… you name it. And they aren’t all banging against each other – they are compartmentalized. I love this fact alone! Plus there’s a key hook so I don’t lose my house keys while I’m on the road.
- It has exterior pockets. More pockets than you’ll ever need. And I love that, too! I have choices! There are pockets with zippers and one that is opened at the top to make it easy to slip things in and out. There’s even one for a water bottle.
- The strap is long enough that I can wear this over my shoulder or over my head for a little added security.
- Great price for a roomy daybag – $70
- It comes in purple. That’s my favorite color and I’m going to look so stylin’ as I travel with this! Plus, I’m assured that Jon will never borrow this from me as long as it’s purple 🙂
The bag has a rather large opening which ends up sitting under your arm and while this is a deterrent for someone who may consider trying to get into your bag, you’ll still want to keep this close to your body or carry the bag over your head and shoulder so that it can’t be snatched away.
If you see me in the airport with this – say hello!

Beth
