The Timbuk2 Candybar Backpack is meant to be a small daybag for your iPad, Kindle or other tablet. But I think that the company is selling it a bit short by calling it a bag for your iPad. Yes, it is a tad smaller than many daybags, but it can definitely hold far more than a small tablet.
The back of the bag contains a zippered, slightly padded compartment that makes it easy to access your tablet or small laptop without taking the bag off.
In the main compartment, there’s a ton of space for things like books or a number of personal items. On a trip, for example, you could easily carry your camera, an inflatable neck pillow, magazines, and guidebook. (The only thing the bag is missing is a slot on the outside for a water bottle.)
Though the top flap doesn’t zipper close (there’s Velcro to hold the lid down), the top sides fold in (and also Velcro shut) so as to protect the contents and prevent them from spilling out.
The inside pocket (under the flap) snaps down and includes various-sized pockets for pens and business cards and also has a zippered pocket with a key holder.
In the very front of the Candybar, there’s a zippered pocket where it’s easy to stash a cell phone or other items you’d like to get to quickly.
This bag is definitely handy for hauling around items during the day in your travels or if you’re off to the coffee shop in your neighborhood.
What I Love
- A front snap pocket with lots of little pockets for pens, cell phone, biz cards, and other items.
- Easy access to my Kindle in the padded back of the bag.
Not So Much
- It’s tall. Maybe a bit too tall for something created for use with a tablet.
The Timbuk2 Candybar comes in several colors including purple/red (pictured), red/plaid, black, violet/night blue, and carbon.
Available on Amazon for about $65.
Travel Well,
Beth
