This weekend, I took a look at my friend, Tina’s, website which she recently launched after a trip to Asia last year. I was blown away by her images, particularly her portraits. I then got to thinking about all of the very talented women photographers that I’m blessed to know in the travel industry.
First, Tina. A very smart IT gal, she is obviously a real people-person (an almost anti-geek). Her portraits are magnificent and you can tell she has a connection with her subjects, whether they are speaking the same language as Tina or not. While she does have a day job, it wouldn’t surprise me if one day she didn’t make a living from her artistic talents.
Brenda Tharp specializes in nature, travel and outdoor photography. She also teaches workshops and leads photography tours around the world. Her photography has appeared in numerous publications including Sunset and Travel Holiday and she has published books of photography as well. After perusing her nature and location shots, I’m tempted to sign right up for a trip!
Nevada Wier is an award-winning photographer and has been published in magazines such as National Geographic Adventure, Outdoor Photographer and Smithsonian. She has also published numerous books of her travel photography. While she’s on the road much of the year, she does run numerous workshops around the country. Now, if she’d only agree to bring an entourage of budding photographers with her on that next trip to Burma, I’d be there!
Know anyone yourself that you’d like to toot a horn about?
Happy Travels!
