I’m headed to Portland in a few days and I just had to check out this service. GlobalFreeloaders is a website in which you can find a free place to crash for a night or two around the globe.
Slightly skeptical as to how this whole thing works, I signed up for an account. In doing so, I agree to host travelers as they make their way through our fair city and I can contact others, via the website, for locations where I would like to stay.
Accommodations vary and you can pick and choose who you’d like to stay with based on age, gender, accommodations available (couch, futon, floor, spare bedroom) and interests.
I applied to stay with about a half dozen people and I wait now for their response to see who has availability and who might be interested in hosting me while I’m on a business trip.
(By the way, subscribe to this blog during October and you’ll be entered to win one free item from the Solo Travel shop at Cafe Press. Just add your email to the submit form to the right.)
Happy Travels!
