Happy Holidays, Wanderluster!
I’m back from 9 weeks of travel(!) and can’t believe the holidays are nearly here. My body is begging for the warmth of SE Asia (like in this photo from Thailand) rather than the unusually low temps (and snow) we’ve been having in Seattle.
I’m home, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be staying put for long… Next week I head to the White House for an invitation-only event with other “travel influencers” to chat about cultural exchanges and study abroad programs. In January, I head to Salt Lake City for the Outdoor Retailer Show and then Chicago for the Travel and Adventure Show where I’ll be speaking on January 17th. If you’re in the Windy City, be sure to stop by to say Hi!
It’s last call for the 2015 Burma tour in February. Don’t miss out on this fantastical pagoda-filled tour. And, psst…We have someone interested in sharing a room! It’s not too late to jump on board this fabulous adventure. We can even squeeze ya in if you’d like your own room.
If you’re interested in staying updated on my whereabouts and experiences (including my recent adventures on the Snowman Trek and the Thailand and Laos tour), I’m most active on Facebook, so please friend me there.

On the Bookshelf
Earth Is My Witness: The Photography of Art Wolfe
This (very heavy) coffee table book is the most extensive collection of Art Wolfe’s photography that’s yet to be published. It’s a fantastic compilation of his life’s work and contains previously unpublished images. There’s also a killer deal on Amazon right now making it an excellent gift for the traveler in your life.
In the iPod
The Rough Guide to Arabic Café
This is a two-disc set with a really interesting mix of the music of North Africa and the Middle East. Much of it is fast-paced and includes masters of their genre. OK – so I’m not totally familiar with them all but I still really like this compilation!
In the DVD
A Long Way Down
with Pierce Brosnan
The topic of suicide on New Year’s Eve might not be the most upbeat one for a movie recommendation but this is a sweet London-based movie that’s more about hope than sadness. Though it’s not a super deep movie, it’s a good watch for sure. Also stars Toni Collette (I love her!) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad).
WanderGear Review
Gordini Gloves
Just in time for winter! These Gordini gloves are wind and waterproof with a lined insulation. They kept my hands really warm during the Snowman Trek and now I’m just waiting for more snow in Seattle so I can break them out again. Read more here…
