I do love camping. The fresh air. The clear skies. The smell of a campfire (with marshmallows nearby).
Generally when Jon and I head out on a weekend camping jaunt, it’s on our motorcycles – which limits the amount of gear that we can pack.
GSI Outdoors has come out with the perfect cookware for campers who want to pack light. It’s the Pinnacle Camper line and includes enough gear for 4 people to cook up a variety of items at once.
In this setup, you’ll find:
- 1 3-liter pot
- 1 2-liter pot
- 1 frypan
- 2 lids that double as strainers
- 4 plates
- 4 bowls with lids
- Folding gripper for the pots/pan
Like a set of Russian dolls, all of these items stack into each other so they take up no more room than the largest 3-liter pot. That then fits into a reinforced carrying sack.
While this is the most compact and comprehensive camping cookware I’ve seen, I have to point out that the pots and pan are covered with Teflon. The literature states that this special DuPont Teflon can be used with “most” metal utensils (though it doesn’t go into any explanation as to what is appropriate). Still, I’d recommend being very careful using this in order to extend the lifetime of them.
Summer’s over, true. But this is actually the time that many people just start camping since families have gone home and the campgrounds are (relatively) empty. Besides, it’s never too late in the season to pick up some more fun gear!
The total weight on this entire stack is less than 4 pounds and retails on Amazon for about $120.

We definitely have to look into this. Our first camping trip (I just blogged about on my blog) was a success but I think we want to step up the food from hot dogs to more homey food. 🙂

Amy – it’s much better than eating out or buying a bunch of packaged food!
