It’s no secret that I don’t like taking medications or slathering harmful chemicals on my body to protect myself from the sun or scaring away mosquitoes. When my friend, Sue, suggested I might like to try out some products from Young Living, I was enthusiastic because I knew they were made from natural ingredients.
During my trip to South India, where mosquitoes are not the least bit shy, I carried a small bottle of Purification with me. This essential oil is a blend of citronella, rosemary, lemongrass, tea tree, lavender and myrtle. Unlike some essential oils that utilize citronella as a bug repellent, Purification didn’t give me a headache because of the overpowering scent. Instead, I felt as though I was wearing a light-scented perfume!
More importantly, I never once got a mosquito bite when I had this sprinkled on my feet, legs, arms and neck and just lightly dabbed on my face.
Purification comes in a .5 oz bottle, making it the perfect size for travel. I used this most every day during my 3 1/2 week trip (and shared it with others on the tour), and I still came home with 3/4 of the bottle – plenty for my trip to Papau New Guinea this August! So it’s true that a little dab’ll do ya.
The Young Living catalog boasts a huge range of essential oils including single ingredient products such as cinnamon bark (an antiseptic), geranium (for a healthy respiratory system), ginger (for digestive issues) and lavender (for minor skin issues). They’ve also got blends of many oils that promote mental activity, clarity of mind, energy and more. And then there are the massage oils, lip balms, soaps, supplements, creams, scrubs… the list goes on.
Young Living is a direct marketing company, meaning you can’t purchase these in a store. But if you’re interested in checking out their products, you can contact my friend Sue directly. (BTW, I’ll vouch for Sue – I’ve known her for about 30 years!)

Beth

Purification is one of my favorite oils, too! It’s scent is so clean and bright … and not only does it repel insects, but is a deodorizer, too! We use it to freshen stinky people, places and things ~ like gym shoes and backpacks ~ just a drop or two does the trick. You can also use it for disinfecting cuts and scrapes and to take itch/swelling from a spider, bee, hornet and wasp sting. LOVE the versatility of essential oils … without toxic chemicals!
