No matter how many times I travel to India, I’m always struck by the absolute beauty of the women. In their colorful saris, sparkling bangles and jingling ankle bells, they radiate.
.
.
Even as they tend to the most mundane tasks, it seems that they exude an air of elegance when they are wrapped in silk. Conversely, I always feel like a tomboy, dressed in my safari-like clothes. (Though I do find that even an Indian scarf can help dress up the most simple of my travel outfits.)
I leave in just a few weeks for Kolkata (Calcutta) to begin a brief tour to Northeast India (in the Guwahati region) and then on to Eastern Bhutan where I’ll be trekking with an eclectic group of men and women from around the U.S. and Switzerland!
I still have a trip to the Bay Area and Portland (see my calendar for details) between now and that big trip so it hasn’t fully hit me, but I AM excited.
If you’re interested in India, there’s still time to join the November women-only North India tour or the South India tour for women in January!
In the meantime, you can see more lovely photos at DeliciousBaby’s Photo Friday!

I had a great skirt made from sari off cuts. Very simple design, copied from one I had in a tailors. I wore it and wore it until it fell apart. So if you ever feel like extending out of cargos and canvas…

what lovely photos. I especially like the one of the woman tending the fire, but all of them radiate such welcoming spirit.
