Welcome to Food Freeway, a new blog about food from around the world. Every week, I’m going to share recipes and specialty dishes from different places throughout the world with you, and hopefully you’ll share some of your favourite recipes and locations with me. Together, we’ll go on a foodie road trip.
So who am I? I’m Stephanie – a writer, a traveler, and a bit of a cook. I live in Western Canada, just beside the beautiful Rocky Mountains, and I love taking advantage of my incredible location by hiking, biking, rafting – just existing in the mountains whenever humanly possible. When I’m not busy outside, I’m cooking. There’s something so amazing about making food – creating something from nothing, bundling a series of simple ingredients to make a combination that is nothing short of mouthwatering.
Above all else, my favourite part of food is its importance. Not just nutritionally, but culturally. Food has such substantial meaning everywhere in the world. It’s the centre of life. It’s beautiful. It’s stimulating. It’s the centre of society. When people gather, when they celebrate, when they bond – food is involved in one way or another, and this is what I want to share with you.
Now I must ask, what does food mean to you? Does it mean something special wherever you are from? Do you have a special meal that you like to eat or that you like to cook for others?
