I barely dragged myself out of bed at 4:30 a.m. in Darjeeling, India, to catch a ride to Tiger Hill in order to see the sun rise and cast its light on the Himalayan range.
Even at daybreak, there’s no guarantee that it will be clear enough to see these mountains, which include the world’s 3rd highest peak, Kanchenjunga.
Despite the stinging cold, the view was well worth it. Something I will never forget!

My five year old had decided that she would love to climb this mountain and eat the snow. Guess we had better start training :).

That definitely looks like an amazing view Beth, you’ve got us all jealous now.. Is it hard to get to this place? Do you need to be fit? Have climbing experiences, etc?

This photo encapsulates one of the reasons why I’m liking Photo Friday so much. I get to travel to the top of the world! Looking forward to the day I can do it in person.

Beautiful! I am not an early riser (possibly one reason I was so grumpy yesterday!)
So I always miss out on moments like this. Gotta work on that!

Gorgeous shot! I was moved on Tiger Hill as well. Knowing this happens every day gives me hope for the world and an infatuation with nature. Here’s a piece I wrote on this exact moment of witnessing Kangchenjunga. http://nomadderwhere.blogspot.com/2009/02/best-part-of-wakin-up-day-170.html
