Woman-owned Cultural Crossroads is not your usual tour company. Trips center around historical and cultural destinations and connect travelers with local artisans experienced in dance, cooking, crafts and storytelling.
Group sizes are small, ranging from 8-16 people, creating opportunities that you would not experience in a larger group. Imagine touring a private garden or museum after-hours so that you and other Cultural Crossroads participants can visit when the hordes of tourists have gone home. Imagine a private dinner that includes a string quartet or a private lunch in Jordan with Princess Alia (the late King Hussein’s daughter). These sorts of experiences are just the kind of opportunities that you would have on a Cultural Crossroads trip.
2007 trips include: Vienna and Prague which will focus on music and art; Turkey, where you’ll have the chance to explore historical treasures or sail along the Turkish coast; and a tour of the back roads of Tuscany, where you’ll enjoy the finer points of the region.
Cultural Crossroads’ owner, Carrie McDougall, says of the Tuscany trip, “We stay in the best hotels, have excellent English speaking guides and enjoy excellent meals and wine tastings.” The trip also includes cooking demonstrations, hands-on cooking classes and plenty of visits to bakeries!
If you have a milestone birthday or anniversary coming up, consider booking with Cultural Crossroads to help make it a spectacular event. Because tour sizes are limited, though, you’ll want to book well in advance.
Happy Travels!
