American Airlines has just launched a portion of their website dedicated to women travelers. Their goal is to increase this segment of their market by two percent which would grow their revenue by $94 million a year.
The website includes special areas for:
* Business travelers with tips and information on the latest carry-on regulations as well as how to pack a stylish wardrobe
* Lifestyle travel ideas for girlfriend getaways, family vacations and romantic escapes
* A touchy feely section for getting connected that includes interviews, profiles and info on charities that AA supports
The airline’s parent company, AMR, has two other websites that are dedicated to special segments of the market, Spanish speakers and gay/lesbian travelers.
While I applaud the fact that AA is taking notice that we are an important portion of their travel community, I’ll be really excited when they add some extra value to my trip. How ’bout a fifteen minute massage followed by a cup of tea and scone in their Admirals Club? Or, a glass of wine and a copy of Travel & Leisure during that two hour layover? Just a thought…
Happy Travels!
