Never a dull moment these days! I spent my birthday in Kauai and, while there, received a phone call with an invitation to attend the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony and A Christmas Concert in Oslo, Norway this month. I’m still pinching myself and simultaneously trying to figure out how to pack one bag for this once in a lifetime event!
Next month, I’ll be leading a group of women on the South India Cultural Tour from Chennai to Kerala. I have one spot open for this! And, if Southeast Asia is more your style, please join the Vietnam & Cambodia women-only tour in February. Warm weather in both India and Southeast Asia await you!
Hey scribes! This is the last month to enter the 3rd Annual WanderWomen Write Travel Writing Contest! Grand prize is a trip for two through Vietnam & Cambodia with Buffalo Tours and each category winner will receive a Briggs & Riley Explore 22″ Upright carry-on bag!
And finally, Passports with Purpose 2010 is well on its way to hitting our goal of $50,000 to build a VILLAGE for a Dalit community in Southern India. But we still need your help! Donate just $10 and you can choose from a wide range of fantastic prizes including getaways, travel gear and gift certificates!

On the Bookshelf
Buddha by Deepak Chopra
It took me picking this book up several times before I got drawn into it, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. This is Deepak Chopra’s fictional tale of how the Buddha might have lived his life. It takes you from his early years living in seclusion with his royal family to his time as a monk wandering the countryside and, finally, to his enlightenment. During this holiday season and time of reflection, this is a beautiful book to add to your wish list. Available on Amazon
In the iPod
Putumayo Presents Yoga
To avoid getting too wound up this holiday season, kick back and treat yourself to Putumayo’s Yoga. While this is heavy on Indian-influenced music, the musicians themselves are from around the world – including India, Britain, Kenya and Costa Rica. While I don’t actually practice yoga to this CD, it has served as very relaxing background music while I’m working or driving. Available on Amazon
In the DVD Player
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I missed the boat while everyone else has been reading this book series by Stieg Larsson. So to catch up, I’ve been watching the movies on Netflix. Simply a fantastic (if at times disturbing) plot line that keeps you guessing as to what’s going on. I’m told it’s well worth it to go back and read the books!
