We recently returned from our vacation in Bali and found ourselves discussing why it was such an appealing destination. After all, the beaches in Bali – at least in the tourist areas – are far from clean and the three volcanoes on the island mean one doesn’t find the pristine white sand, ubiquitous at many beach resorts in Asia. And while there are a few cultural sites, they can’t compare to others found in the region, or even elsewhere in Indonesia.
Still, the lovely flora and fauna, the hospitable climate – not too hot and not too cold – the warmth of the locals, and the delicious local and international cuisine brought us to this little island for our second visit.
We enjoyed the above meal at La Lucciola, a breezy, outdoor, two story restaurant on Seminyak Beach. We dined here on Christmas Day and the casual yet festive atmosphere provided the perfect holiday setting – at 80 degrees or so. We completed the meal with a swim in the ocean.
