Recently, we discovered “Grandma’s Kitchen,” which has five locations in Beijing. We love Chinese cuisine, but Grandma’s is great for those times when you need an American food fix. Their web site, found here, tells you that an American grandmother started the chain in 2003. The restaurants offer a casual, homey feel and all the favorites: meat loaf, burgers, chicken noodle soup, brownies, strawberry short cake, and other classics – all home made. We’ve only been to Grandma’s twice – once to the guest house and once to the one near the Forbidden City, but both times, we got what we wanted – a little piece of home – in the form of a delicious burger and fries.
