I have a couple of favorites with regards to guide books. The Eyewitness guides from DK is one series that I love because of all of the photographs. While I consider my own photography to be glorified snapshots, I love to take as many as possible (especially since digital photography is so cheap) and I often base my tour of a city on the best images I can bring home.
That’s where the DK guides come in. And, this publisher has just released one of the most amazing coffee table books.
From the title, you might think that Where to Go When would simply be a practical guide for your travels. However, this is also 4.5 pounder filled with some of the most incredible travel imagery I’ve seen in one comprehensive book. My first inclination isn’t necessarily to refer to this when planning a trip but it’s not going to leave my coffee table.
It includes 130 destinations broken down month by month. It also includes six different vacation themes: Natural World, Unforgettable Journeys, Family Vacations, Luxury & Romance, Activity Breaks and Festivals & Cultures. Within each recommendation there are do’s and don’ts, suggestions for accommodations, restaurants and transportation.
You’re not going to carry this book with you on that next adventure, but I can guarantee that you’ll have a blast planning the trip with Where to Go When.
Happy Travels!
