Wander Tales Writers’ Guidelines

Wander Tales are inspirational, humorous, entertaining, educational and adventurous travel stories as told by women. We have a unique perspective on the world and this area is the place to laugh, ponder, share and learn.

If you are interested in writing for Wanderlust and Lipstick’s Wander Tales, keep these guidelines in mind.

Who
1) Written by (but not necessarily for) women.
2) Previously published authors only.

What
1) Approximately 900-1800 words in length
2) Accompanying photographs are a huge plus
3) Submitted in word doc format with little to no editing required
4) All rights held by the submitting author/photographer.

Wanderlust and Lipstick is a new (but growing) website where we can come together, encourage each other to take more adventurous leaps in the world of travel, laugh at other’s bumbling travel mistakes and learn about other parts of the world and how we relate to it.

At this time, there is no pay for articles submitted to the Wander Tales section of the website but as traffic and revenue increases, there will be payment for articles published (I promise!). I believe in encouraging and fostering the success of women in the travel industry, including writers, and want to not only provide an outlet for women travel writers and photographers but to also help support their passions financially.

If you have a published book in print, a link to that book will be included in your bio. If you’ve got your own website, a link to that will be included as well. These will help drive sales and traffic to you!

Why only accept submissions from published writers you ask? Quite simply, it’s because I’m a one-woman show right now and neither have the time nor talent to edit all of the wonderful stories that get submitted but may need some tweaking. I am happy to provide you with contact info for talented editors working on a contract basis whom can help you refine your craft. If you are previously unpublished and work with one of my outside editors, I will indeed publish your work.

Send me a query or send your fully written story (minus the photos until story is accepted). beth at wanderlustandlipstick dot com

Looking forward to hearing your Tales of Wander!

Beth
