When I stopped in LA on my way to Papua New Guinea, Jen Miner, from the Vacation Gals (providing expert advice on family trips), took me out to lunch at a fantastic vegan restaurant, Real Food Daily, in Santa Monica. I’ve been thinking about that Reuben sandwich (pictured above) ever since. I don’t think I could replicate it at home and can’t quite find one as delish here in Seattle.
It was made out of tempeh, tofu cheese spread and sauerkraut and then slathered with thousand island dressing on rye bread.
I had an iced tea but Jen enjoyed a Ginger Brew (OK, I admit, I wished I had ordered one, too – it was good!)
We do have a couple of vegan restaurants here in Seattle and I’ll likely be on the warpath to track down a sandwich as good as this one!
