Marshmallow Grape Salad (Ambrosia Salad) has been a traditional Thanksgiving dish in my family for years. My mom grew up having it and still uses her mothers recipe to make it today. There are many variations on ingredients and preparation for Ambrosia, as evidenced by the picture above, which features mandarin oranges instead of grapes.
Here is the recipe, written exactly as it appears on a yellowing, much used, recipe card from my Grandmas recipe box. Enjoy!
My Grandma’s Marshmallow Grape Salad
Ingredients
2-3 oz pkg Cream Cheese
2 Tbsp Pineapple Syrup
1 2 lb Can Drained Pineapple
2 Cups Grapes, halved
2 Tbsp Mayo
24 Quartered Marshmallows
1 Cup Whipping Cream, whipped
Directions
Soften cream cheese and blend with mayo. Beat in pineapple syrup.
Add marshmallows and drained pineapple.
Fold in whipped cream and grapes.
Chill until firm.
Super easy to make, and great for Thanksgiving since you can make it ahead. And it tastes wonderful too…I mean, it has marshmallows in it. Kind of hard to go wrong!
Do you have a traditional Thanksgiving dish you make every year?
