Seasoned readers of WanderChic know that Mountain Khakis has got my number (most recently with this much-loved flannel).
What’s more, they’ve got my address.
The fine folk at MK sent over a Women’s Wildflower Dress in Clear Blue. Their ad copy, by the way, features a shout out to Dolly Parton, though I was thinking more Tom Petty (music-wise, not in a Who Wore It Better kind of way). The dress is made of their signature “Rocky Mountain wildflower print,” which also suits the Linen version (below).
Every time I wear the Wildflower, someone compliments the snaps. They’re not pearly, but the glassy finish gives a similar effect. Plus: pockets! Why don’t more dresses have pockets? And I’m not talking sad-sack pockets. These pockets are sleek, ready to hold your stuff but not make a big fuss about it. I’m usually somewhere between small and medium with shirts. The small fits well, snug but not hoochie.
Rayon is not my spirit fabric, even Mountain Khakis’ “silky-soft” version. But this dress is indeed soft, and it’s holding up OK so far (and seriously, I’ve worn it and washed it enough to put it to a bit of a test already). I predict this will be one of those garments that looks cool as it ages, with just the right amount of crinkle and fray.
The big news is that I wear the Wildflower as a shirt rather than a dress. If I were a few inches shorter or a few years younger, I might do otherwise. The dress pairs nicely with skinny jeans. I’m not so much of a lady of the leggings, but I’m sure it would look great over leggings and thick tights, too. I’ve worn it with flats and boots, alone or under a cardigan. And as soon as I do my laundry, I’ll wear it again.
