Okay all you healthy eaters out there, please don’t burst my bubble on this one — I love Chipotle! It is the only fast food restaurant where I eat, and even though I recently learned that it is owned by another fast-foodie place that I wouldn’t touch with a mile-long pole, I refuse to believe there is anything but wholesomeness in Chipotle cuisine.
If you’ve got teenagers to fill up and you like fresh veggies and grilled meat, Chipotle is for you. (No, the company is not paying me to say this.) My son and I actually had a discussion the other day about the authenticity of Chipotle’s Mexican cuisine, and we had to admit it is American-Mexican at best. So, we go elsewhere for the “real deal,” but that doesn’t mean we don’t frequent Chipotle, probably a bit too frequently!
The ordering process is easy: you choose a burrito, bowl, salad or tacos to start; then you choose what to put in it. The smiling server behind the glass screen follows your directions to scoop out brown or white rice; black or pinto beans; chicken, pork, shredded beef or tofu; mild, medium or hot salsa; and fajita mix, corn, sour cream, cheese and lettuce. If you want chips and guacamole, which tastes super fresh, it’s extra.
Our total for two fully-loaded burritos …
Cheap and good — and so filling I cut mine in half and make it into two meals. That makes it less that $3.50 a meal!
Chipotle is so cool it even has cool bags! Give it a try.
Happy eating!
