Many people look for that quick fix when it comes to losing weight, whether it’s those last 10 pesky pounds or even more weight necessary to maintain optimal health. Let’s face it, most people find it hard and sometimes extremely unpleasant to drop the pounds.
But what if you can do it while enjoying a spa and resort? There are such things and they are popping up all around the country. So instead of wasting your money and signing up for a gym you never actually end up going to, check out some of these programs that promise results while encouraging healthy living and realistic goals.
1. Hilton Head Weight Loss Spa in South Carolina
This great seaside resort offers three different programs, whether you are looking to have a quick jumpstart that you’ll continue at home or an inclusive program that provides constant support from start to finish. Hilton Head Weight Loss Spa offers a three day retreat, weekly programs and even a 9 month extensive weight loss program. The resort promises to design a comprehensive program tailored especially for each clients individual needs, including anything from fitness, nutrition, weight loss, stress management, or relaxation. It’s all about creating new habits and tools to ensure a long and healthy life. Each guest will meet with a health specialist and put together a tailor-made program, including fitness classes, and cooking demonstrations. Guests will receive a meal plan while staying there as well as accommodations.
Made famous on the popular NBC series ‘The Biggest Loser’ anyone can actually go to this resort. Although they have become pretty commercialized due to the show, the programs still haven’t changed. You go there to lose weight! If you are looking for a drastic change, as well as some great take home programs for when it’s time to leave the resort, this is the right place for you. The resort actually has locations in Malibu, CA, Chicago, IL Buffalo, NY, and Amelia Island, FL. They say they offer an integrated approach; not just giving you ideas and tools, but following through and putting them into action during your stay at the resort.
3. Cooper Wellness Program, Texas
The Cooper Wellness program in Dallas Texas is meant to help a person feel “well” in all aspects of their lives. They offer workshops on how to balance stress, lose weight, and eat a healthy diet. The center offers a six-day “Wellness Week” program that offers fitness classes, calorie-controlled meals and dining out options where guests learn how to choose healthy options while eating out. Guests also learn how to deal with stress in a healthy way, as opposed to over-eating or indulging in other bad habits that can result in weight gain. Before starting the program, each guest is given a full-day physical exam that includes a stress test, cancer screening, CT scan, and overall health physical.
4. Cal-a-Vie Health Spa, California
This is one of the best weight-loss spas in America, at least according to Conde Nast traveler. It was also listed as the best weight loss program for six years in a row on SpaFinder’s readers choice awards. Needless to say, Cal-a-Vie, located in Vista, California provides guests with everything they need to relax, deal with stress, and learn how to live an overall healthier lifestyle. The resort offers three, four, and seven night customized packages that includes fitness classes, spa treatments, stress classes, cooking classes, and fresh, healthy meals for their entire stay. It’s also extremely exclusive, with individualized and intimate experiences. The views in and of themselves and stress-reducing!
5. Green Mountain at Fox Run in Vermont
I particularly like this last one because it is specifically for women! Women and men have very different fitness needs and fitness goals, so I love the idea of catering to the needs of women. Green Mountain even emphasizes a non-diet approach – another plus! The entire aim of the resort is to instill a healthy way of eating that works in all facets of life, including raising a family, working full-time, and eating out. The resort only allows 40-45 women at a time and is based on a month-long curriculum, in an effort to allow women to fully embrace their new healthier way of life. They also have a more intense 12-week program called “Train Your Brain” for women who need a little more support. Guests can also tailor the program to meet specific health needs and focus on issues like binge eating, diabetes, stress-related bad habits, and others.
