*This press trip was provided by Marriott Resorts. I will be writing about my experiences at the resort and on the island of St. Kitts with the same honesty and integrity that I would if I paid for the trip myself.
If you’re looking for an island escape where the atmosphere is pure limin and the attention to detail is outstanding then the St. Kitt’s Marriott Resort is your destination. The resort sits on Frigate Bay and offers guests endless opportunities to relax. You can start with the pool and then enjoy lunch outside at Bohemia Restaurant. The restaurant overlooks the pool and you have the option of eating at the swim up pool bar. The menu is a mix of Caribbean inspired sandwiches, salads and wraps with a full bar. I particularly enjoyed Bohemia’s fresh lobster salad. It was a generous portion of fresh lobster with greens and fresh diced mango. Be sure to ask your bartender for a Ting With a Sting. This popular Kittian drink is made with Ting, a refreshing grapefruit soda mixed with rum. It’s fun and refreshing.
If you like golf the St. Kitt’s Marriott Resort offers a 71 par championship course with holes overlooking both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. It’s considered one of the top courses in the Caribbean. After a day of exploring you can try your luck at the The Royal Beach Casino, within the resort or have a drink at Key Cigar and Rum Bar. At first I was thinking, “cigar bar, probably not”, but I wanted to give it a chance and see what it had to offer. It was surprisingly cool and fun! It has a lovely outdoor patio with old world charm and a killer view for stargazing. On top of that there are a selection of outstanding rums and Cuban cigars. I had a great time; my only regret is that I didn’t get a return visit during my stay at the resort. I highly recommend a drink there!
Enjoying a spa soak
The Marriott’s Emerald Mist spa offers individual and couples treatments in a calming and beautiful atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive and you’re guaranteed to enjoy one of the many treatments offered. Guests can select from ten different kinds of massage, including a treatment using warm bamboo rods and bamboo disks that leave you feeling deeply relaxed. Within the spa there’s also a sauna, steam room and whirlpool.
The resort offers over 450 rooms, with options of standard, deluxe, private balcony, ocean view, mountain or garden view rooms. There are also spacious, well appointed suites available. The resort rooms are very comfortable, well equipped and attractive. The suites offer the option of more space with one or two bedrooms, a living room and ajoining balcony.
Within the resort there are many excellent dining options. I will be writing more about some of those restaurants in my future Wanderfood Wednesday posts. If it’s an island escape you desire, then try St. Kitts with it’s lush, green volcanic mountains, rainforest and welcoming kindness. You’ll be delighted with the island, the locals and the St. Kitts Marriott.
