When a meal is included on a flight (usually international ones only, now), I always order the vegetarian meal. Sometimes it’s the same as what the rest of the passengers are getting. India as a whole caters to vegetarians so I can always rely on a good veggie meal when flying to the subcontinent.
I flew Korean Air to Hanoi earlier this year and received the meal pictured above. Noodles and tofu? Rice and veggies? Nope. Pasta and sauce.
I was a bit disappointed but it didn’t stop me from eating it.
On my return flight, I had 12 hours to kill at the Seoul Airport. It was then that I realized how much they rely on meat for their diets – I had a terrible time finding a restaurant that served a vegetarian meal (I grudgingly ate a veggie sandwich from Subway).
Ah well.
