I enjoyed this meal about 15 years ago in what was, at the time, a remote area of Northern Vietnam. I suspect there are A LOT more tourists in the region now. In the late 90’s, I was the only tourist in this little village and had been guided there by a gal working with Buffalo Tours (sponsors of the WanderWomen Write Travel Writing Contest).
Though it seems like a lifetime or two ago, I’ll never forget this amazing meal that was prepared for Chau and I. I skipped the chicken that’s on display here, but there were plenty of vegetarian items. Needless to say, I over-ate, but managed to work it off during a trek through the lush green hills.
I’ll be leading a women-only tour to Vietnam & Cambodia in February, 2010. Want to join me? Save $150 if you register prior to December 1.
