Know an avid hiker or somebody who loves camping? Wondering what to get them this Christmas? How about these six great gift ideas for the hiker or camper in your life? I know getting any of these wonderful gifts would make me happy!
1. Life is Good clothing: Life is truly good when wearing “Life is Good”. I love their tshirts which are lusciously soft and super comfortable on a hike. They come in bright colors with neat quotes on them and are great for layering in winter. What’s not to love?
2. Light My Fire Original BPA-Free Tritan Sporks
These sporks are so colorful, durable and so much fun to use that you might end up using these instead of your regular spoons even at home! They are lightweight, BPA-free, and dishwasher safe. Designed by Scandinavian designer Joachim Nordwall, these sporks are sure to satisfy all hikers and campers, particularly those who like to eat their food in style when outdoors.
These have been tried and tested by yours truly when camping in the bone-chilling Andes mountains of Peru. Suffice to say that they have proven their mettle and are now one of my top must-haves for all camping trips. Being made of pure silk, the fabric is soft to touch and feels oh-so-smooth against the skin. These liners have kept me really warm and toasty whenever I’ve used them inside my sleeping bag on camping trips and they come in a portable and lightweight compact pouch. They are guaranteed to literally warm the heart of whoever you choose to gift these to!
4. A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail
A Walk in the Woods is one of my all-time favorite books on hiking. Bill Bryson takes us on an unforgettable journey on the Appalachian trail – a trail I hope to thru-hike some day. Although it is unlikely that there might still be avid hikers who have not yet read this book, it is possible that Bill Bryson’s keen wit and admirable sense of humor has eluded them so far. In which case, they will be thanking you profusely for introducing them to this book.
5. Coleman Broadband Quad Chair
We recently got a couple of these in black and red for our camping trips and picnic gatherings and they have been a big hit. With extra padding and roomy comfort, these chairs are made to be settled into. The attached cooler is a pleasant surprise as is the side pouch which has mesh pockets to hold miscellaneous knick-knacks. Sit back, relax and enjoy the outdoors!
This handy MSR Pocket Rocket has literally lived in my pocket on many hiking and backpacking trips. I proudly whip it out whenever there is a meal waiting to be cooked. In no time, this tiny unassuming device is transformed into a roaring fireball, which gets water heated in a matter of seconds and cooks everything from oatmeal to noodles in a jiffy. A surefire hit with anybody who enjoys a hot meal when on the trail!
I hope these ideas make for great gifts for the hiker / camper / backpacker in your life. If you have any unique suggestions and additional recommendations on the perfect gift, I would love to hear in the comments.
