While The Summit at Snoqualmie is a great place to get comfortable on a board (or a set of skis), Steven’s Pass is where you should go to take everything you’ve learned to the next level. Located about 2.5 hours east of Seattle, Steven’s offers riders a front and backside of the mountain to shred on, and with 37 major runs and over 1,125 acres of trails, you could spend a full weekend there and never get bored. The resort also boasts an impressive terrain park and a boatload of snow – up to 450″ every year.
I spent the day as a guest of Steven’s Pass last Saturday and was blown away by the different courses for beginners and experts. The longer trails for beginners are perfect for honing techniques without feeling like you’re in the way. Ok, ok, you caught me. They’re also perfect for falling over repeatedly in a five minute stretch without worrying that you’re holding up the people behind you (as I often do at Snoqualmie). The snow was also continuously falling all day, making those hard falls a little easier to handle.
Thinking you’d like to check it out for yourself? I have the perfect excuse for you. Next weekend Steven’s is teaming up with Burton, one of their sponsors, to bring you a 2-day snowboarding extravaganza guaranteed to make your male counterparts jealous.
On February 27 and 28, the 3rd annual Women’s Only Pillow Fight Snowboard Retreat will give riders of all ages and skill levels the chance to meet other women riders, train with Burton and Steven’s professional instructors, try out new Burton gear and walk away with awesome Burton swag! The event, which also includes lunches and lift tickets, is only $165 for non-season pass holders.
If you’re feeling like you really need an all out retreat, opt for the $450 overnight package which includes lodging for the weekend, dinner, breakfast and a special event on Friday night. Check out more details at the Steven’s Pass website and register for the event by emailing [email protected]. I’m bummed that I can’t make it out to Steven’s for the event so I’m counting on you to hit the slopes and tell me all about it in the comments.
