Midwest and east coast cities may be in the midst of a heat wave, but here in Seattle, we’re still cool as a cucumber. And rainy.
Much as I look forward to warmer weather and the start of summer (even the Pacific Northwest’s version of summer), all that precipitation creates magic…in the form of raindrops. Here are a few pictures from our recent trip to Orcas Island, after a rainstorm.

Was wondering if you would suggest other non-Armenians to wait around to purchase a healthy baby as long as you did and go through all the wierd starts and stops?
You know there are plenty of Armenians that are waiting for a child to parent. For you to purchase a child of our culure is very sad, how can you give her a culture, a name? her language her Armenian soul?
Robin had to make this one right, but other adoption agencies will not promise for non Armenians. You will be 70 years old when she graduates from school.
Furthermore, most Armenians don’t care for Jews because they believe the pashas that ordered the death of Armenians were Kazaki jews.
You cannot teach anything to that poor little girl about being an Armenian. Robin again is telling anyone they can adopt from Armenia
apparently you feel an entitlement to our children because you paid money for your business transaction.
That poor little girl missing out on being raised by her countrymen to fulfill the fantasy of some over 50 year old woman.
You are selfish and silly to think that there was not a list of people waiting for that little girl and plenty were right here in Armenia.
I hope you never come back to our country. You Americans think everything has a price on it.

Patty,
I am so appreciative that you wrote. Thank you for reading my blog and supporting our decision to adopt from Armenia.
In the past, when I received comments from Lusine, or others who might share her opinion, I chose not to publish them. More recently, I decided to make them public. However, Lusine’s comments do not reflect my impression of Armenia–or Armenians.
One of the reasons I post pictures of our travels to Armenia, share Armenian recipes and write about the culture, is that I hope readers will want to learn more about this beautiful country…and go there! Armenia is a country few non-Armenians know much about. I believe the more people who become interested in Armenian culture, the better.
I am proud of my daughter’s heritage and want to raise her to be proud too. We look forward to continuing to learn about Armenian culture as a family. And, I cannot wait share the experience of traveling to her homeland with her.
I wish you all the best on your own journey, Patty. May the days until you bring home your child be few.
