Months before leaving for a three-week journey across Italy, I began to muse about what photography themes I wanted to focus on during the trip. I spent time creating lists of words that I associated with Italy: mystery, romance, beauty, ruins, decorated doors, statues, fountains, gelato, etc. Before leaving, I refined the list down to fifteen words and copied this list into my travel journal. This simple visualization exercise was a lot of fun and helped me to focus my attention.
This Roman decorated door was hot to the touch…sun-drenched in the dry July heat. I love the mystery of the image. Can you imagine living here? I’m betting that the lucky Romans who unlock this door each night exist in a constant state of romantic intrigue. By the way – have I mentioned I’m a hopeless romantic? Rome is a great place for hopeless romantics. 🙂
