Tweeting Travelers is a series of posts about travel-friendly Twitter accounts, the blogs, forums and people they represent and why you should follow them.
I follow @traveldudes and I highly recommend you do too. The Travel Dudes Twitter page is helpful and fun, two things that make all of the difference in social media.
Travel Dudes is a basic online forum that is self-professed to be “by travelers and for travelers.” The inspiration behind the site is to give travelers the inside scoop through advice and tips. The do-as-the-locals-do vibe is carried by most members on the site who write detailed descriptions of their visits around the world. In fact, the site seems to be widely used by writers with their own blog as another platform for exposure. That’s not a bad thing as it only makes the content better.
The Travel Dudes Twitter page echoes that excitement for travel by posting interesting articles and sharing content from other travel bloggers. Great place to do some innocent Twitter Stalking.
One user on Travel Dudes called Travel Shutter is a couple that has been traveling since April 2012. I had to dig a little to find out more about the user as the site is on the simple side. However, once you start reading the articles they’ve shared you’ll realize you hit a jackpot of insider information. In a post about relaxing places in Southeast Asia, they highlight Bottle Beach, Koh Phangan as a less-crowded paradise where you can get beachside bungalows for $25 USD. Travel Shutter’s own blog highlights some really beautiful photos of their travels to New Zealand and Asia. You can follow them on Twitter here.
Have you used Travel Dudes before? Tell us about your experience in the comments. As you can tell from this post, I’ve already started researching tips on Thailand for a trip I’d like to take next year.
Happy travels,
Lauryl
