If the Kuru Insight had a personality, this shoe would be that old friend you can always call up for a hilarious good time. Dependable for both comfort and fun, this shoe was actually able to make me smile from minute one.
Maybe it was the pink laces, seeming at first out of place, but later perfectly sensible in keeping with my Kuru’s personality. Perhaps it was the adorable and compelling marketing around the shoes, arriving in their own easy carry box, the fact that you can register your purchase to donate a portion to the charity of your choice.
More than anything, I think it was how comfortable and at home my foot felt in this shoe. My feet were taken straight back to the 7th grade and my precious black Airwalk’s that I wore everyday until they literally fell apart beneath my feet. The Kuru Insight was a cross between those Airwalks and a high-tech walking shoe. Comfort was paramount, but looks were not ignored.
Shoes with a personality like this, like an old friend with a great sense of humor, deserve to go on a road trip, to cruise down the west coast, popping out of the car atop mountains and along Pacific beaches. I just hope that sometime soon, for both my and the shoes’ sake, can make that happen.
