I am no stranger to Sanuk sandals and shoes. In July 2015, I reviewed Sanuk Drewby sandals and was delighted with the results. Sanuk footwear tends toward remarkably unique styles that attract attention and compliments. So, when I was granted the opportunity to try out another Sanuk product, I jumped at it. This time round, I tested Sanuk Cargo TX Oxford shoes. After testing out these kicks in three different environments, my findings were impressive.
Test 1: 5 Mile Walk
Straight out of the box, I put the Cargo TX shoes on, and my feet instantly felt cradled. I took a few steps and noticed the cushy insoles right away. My feet started to feel comfortably warm, not hot, but just the right amount of warm. Since it was August, I was concerned that my feet might get overheated, but I wanted to be sure. I warned my wife she needed to drop what she was doing so we could take these shoes out for a walk. We walked about 5 miles on the street, and throughout our walk, the Cargo TX shoes were never disagreeable in foot temperature or overall comfort.
Test 2: At the Office
Not only are the Cargo TX shoes well-fitting, but they are stylish as well. They somewhat resemble high-tops, but don’t extend nearly as high as traditional high-tops. The outside of the shoes are comprised a soft canvas material. The cut and design of the shoes can definitely pass for office-appropriate or something to wear to a casual event. When I wore the Cargo TX shoes at the office, a few of my coworkers noticed them and asked me about them. The general consensus from my colleagues was that the shoes had a distinctive look, and they looked good on me. Good answer! That said, if you work in a casual or semi-casual setting, the Cargo TX shoes should not violate your office dress code.
Test 3: Hiking
Being an avid hiker, I couldn’t wait to see how the Cargo TX shoes performed on a nature trail. Recently, I was visiting the Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington. This resort has a plethora of nature trails and hiking options. After breakfast, I took a footslog on and off their trails. My feet remained comfortably contained. This is important, because when you are hiking, you don’t want your foot to move around inside the shoe—this might open you up for blisters. The Cargo TX shoes performed beyond my expectation. Why? These shoes make no claim to be footwear intended for hiking, but they still kept my feet happy. So, kudos to you, Sanuk!
The Takeaway
These shoes are very comfy and will snugly hold to your feet. You can take them virtually anywhere in terms of their appearance. Even though I took them on a rigorous hike, I wouldn’t suggest them to be your first choice for hiking. The Cargo TX shoes are absolutely a great choice for walking.
The good:
• Well-fitting
• Comfortable and cushy
• Stylish
• Keep feet warm, perfect for autumn walks
The bad:
• Not best choice for hiking (not intended for hiking)
