Some people can have it all. Take musician/businessman Emin Agalarov. He’s the commercial director of his father’s company Crocus Group–the developer of Crocus City Mall, a luxury shopping center near Moscow. In his spare time, he wrote, recorded, and released a successful album, “Still,” in 2006 and is getting ready to release a new album. If that wasn’t enough, he’s married to Leyla Aliyeva, the oldest daughter of the president of Azerbaijan.
Emin’s music is pretty Western in style—he sings in English, and some of his influences are Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. But his background is certainly international: born in Baku, Azerbaijan, raised in Moscow (where he currently lives), and educated in Switzerland and the United States. His voice has a richness to it, but his phrasing and style is a bit cheesy, as if he’s doing an impression of one of his musical heroes. Even so, he has talent, and the songs are lushly orchestrated. Check out the video for “Still” and a live performance of “Incredible”.
