The other day I jumped a few buses and made the trek across town to Muse Coffee Company in the upper reaches of Queen Anne. Muse is the epitome of a neighborhood coffee shop, with comfortable mismatched furniture, a myriad of “regulars” and an owner so welcoming that even as an outsider, I felt at home. Although Muse is on the smaller side, the separate tables and seating areas, along with free wi-fi, make it an ideal location to get some work done or chat with a friend. The bamboo hanging chair in the front window is perfect for curling up with a book and the paper “note-mobile” on the ceiling adds a great personal touch.
And then, just when you’re debating about whether or not this could be your new favorite hangout, you try the coffee. In this caffeine-addled town, Muse’s perfectly creamy latte is an inspiration. Further solidifying their homegrown vibe, the shop also encourages customers to join in on their cuppings – tastings that explain the different varietals, origins and processes used to make the coffee blends at Muse. To learn how to participate in a cupping, contact Muse at the number below.
If you’re hungry, Muse has a display case filled with tasty looking pastries and carries Zing bars (try the blueberry!) for their gluten-free patrons.
If it didn’t take me 45 minutes to get to Muse, you’d see me here daily, happily typing away on my laptop and spinning in circles in my favorite wooden chair.
