Whether you are an avid spa-goer or only indulge on special occasions, your on-site treatment can only take you so far. Spas are great for relaxation, rejuvenation, and restoration, but what about between treatments? How do you make sure to maximize all the good you just did for your body?
Traveling can do wonders for the mind, but not for the skin. Airplanes are the worst culprits for literally making your skin shrivel up like a prune. As an avid traveler, I’ve experienced it all when it comes to skin issues.
Starting with the plane, your skin is exposed to dry stale air for what can be up to 16-20 hours. Once you reach your destination, the sudden impact of a sometimes very different climate can wreak havoc on your pores. To top it all off, you get back on a plane again and return your skin to its normal environment, which it hasn’t been used to for the time you were away.
I did everything to try and combat the effects of travel on my skin. I exfoliated, moisturized, scrubbed, got professional facials while on the road. Nothing worked!
That is, until I tried Air Repair Skincare. I was sent the product on a complete whim – and at the time, I was so desperate for something to help save my dry, irritated skin that I though “why not?”
The Products:
Air Repair Skincare is a whole kit, designed to work together to make sure your skin is refreshed, hydrated and nourished the second you get off that airplane.
It consists of five products, all doing different things to keep your skin healthy and glowing.
First there is the Complexion-Boosting Moisturizer that works like your regular moisturizer to nourish the skin. It can be used everyday, not just when you’re traveling. I use it as part of my regular skin care regiment. It smells great too! The fragrance is light and natural – similar to a refreshing cucumber scrub.
Next is the Hydrating Eye Cream. This is a big one for me. With the endless travel, I always feel like I have dark circles and puffiness around my eyes. I could literally sit with cucumbers over them for a week and still see those stubborn dark circles. The eye cream acts as an instant soothing miracle for the sensitive skin around you eyes. It comes in a little tube, but you only need a drop.
The Facial Cleansing Milk is one of my favorites. If you need an extra boost to your moisturizing routine, it’s the perfect addition. I don’t use this everyday, but when I do, my skin feels refreshingly cool. It definitely helps that the product has chamomile and arnica extract, which is known to help with swelling and puffiness.
The one that I am constantly using while sitting on the plane is the Quenching Facial Mist. A lot of the time when I’m on a long flight, I can literally feel my skin drying up and getting tight. The facial mist is a quick fix and it’s instant refreshment. I can be known to spray it up to 10 times depending on the flight time (I’m sure my seat mate gets a bit of the benefits as well whether they want it or not!).
Finally, the Rescue Balm is the most popular one in the whole group. It’s a multi-functional balm. It feels sensational against you skin when it is dying for hydration. The nice thing about the rescue balm is that you can use it anywhere – on your face, lips, under the eyes, even the neck. It feels a little bit greasy, but you’re using it for that exact reason. The hydration this miracle product provides is unlike any I’ve used, especially while traveling.
The Background:
Air Repair Skincare was founded by San Francisco based aesthetician and avid traveler Denise Spanek. She admits she selfishly created the travel kit because she couldn’t find anything she liked for herself.
She wanted to create a product that would not only hydrate the skin, but address the bigger issues traveling creates over time from flight fatigue and environmental stresses.
It took Spanek almost two years to create the perfect skin concoction with an expert she trusted. Together they experimented with all kinds of different products and extracts to maintain the perfect balance.
The products were designed to specifically targeted to help skin through any kind of environmental stresses, including pollution and climate change.
None of the products have parabens, petroleum or mineral oils and are 70 percent natural ingredients, including aloe vera, vitamin E, cloudberry seed oil, green tea, and lavender.
