I admit that I make up excuses to go here. You know, it’s my birthday, it’s your birthday, I made it through the week, my friend is having a baby, that type of thing. The Warm Springs Salon and Day Spa is, as you may have guessed, a favorite of mine and loved by many of my friends and co-workers. Located in Chambersburg, PA, just 30 miles west of Gettysburg, this lovely location is sure to leave you rejuvenated and relaxed.
I’ve had the opportunity, or multiple, I should say, to try out a few of their services. If you’re smart about when you go, you can land some great deals and discounts and get yourself some stress-free relaxing at stress-free prices.
Though I’ve in no way, shape, or form been able to do everything they offer, here’s a look at what I have been able to do:
Shellac Manicure
One of my first experiences with Warm Springs was for wedding preparation. I scheduled my appointment for a manicure and pedicure to make sure my hands and feet were picture perfect. What made the manicure unique, though, was the shellac. I had never had a shellac manicure before, but was tempted to try it with its promise that it would last at least two weeks. I am notoriously rough with my hands and nails, and can never get my manicure to go beyond a day before chipping. Shellac definitely did the trick.
I chose a nice neutral color, though I wish, now, that a few more choices would have been available. The young woman who worked on my hands was very sweet and did a great job shaping my nails and trimming my cuticles. She was careful and not in any way abrasive or forceful in her movements.
My manicure lasted well over two weeks. All I did was trim up my growing nails to make the manicure last a little longer. It is important, however, to go back and schedule an appointment to have the shellac taken off or redone. It does not come off with regular nail polish. Shellac is the perfect way to go if you want a manicure that lasts.
Signature Spa Pedicure
I have a weakness for pedicures. There’s something about the warm, bubbling waters and my feet being massaged that sends me (mentally) to the beach in the dead of winter. Warm Spring’s Spa Pedicure is recommended for a sort of “pedicure overhaul.” They generally recommend their Classic Pedicure for maintenance in between the Spa treatment, though I believe the Spa treatment is worth doing every time.
The pedicure starts out much the same as any. They turned on the jets in the very clean and sterilized basin and gave me the remote to control the massage chair. My feet were able to soak away the tiredness in a fragrant, cleansing bath while my back got a relaxing jolt. Magazines were available for a little light reading should you feel uncomfortable closing your eyes.
After my feet had soaked for a while, the young woman pulled one foot out of the basin at a time. My foot was properly scrubbed and exfoliated. Old polish came off, cuticles were trimmed, and nails were cut and shaped. I also was able to have a nice foot massage with lotion. By far the best part was when she took a few hot rocks and ran them down my calves. She then covered my foot in a warm towel while she pulled the other one out of the basin.
Once both feet were out, my toes were polished with the color of my choice: bright tangerine. I left feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world with a stylish stride.
Salon Service – Cut and Color
One of the last services I’d like to rate is that of their salon. Having been to stylist after stylist around town, I never really was able to come across someone who I could trust completely with my hair. I always had my hair the same way, parted on the same side and roughly the same length. I was ready for innovation and change.
One of my good friends recommended the salon to me to start my quest for a new hairstyle. As all of their stylists are rigorously trained, I figured I was pretty safe.
Warm Springs has several layers of salon designers, starting with the “Stylist” and going up to the “Director” level. The higher up levels are much harder to get into and are, of course, more expensive, so I started with the beginning level. My stylist was amazing.
She sat me down in the chair and took my hair out of its usual ponytail. She talked about my face shape and coloring and asked about my lifestyle. Do I prefer something easy to maintain? Do I want something that takes five minutes? Yes and Yes. Knowing that I wanted a change, though, she talked to me about going short. Short was not something that I did, but I told her to do what she wanted.
I walked out feeling like a new and improved person. I loved what she did! From that moment on, I knew that I had scored the right stylist for me.
After a couple more visits, she talked to me about coloring my hair. It had started to turn a bit of an odd but natural color. I had never colored my hair before, but let her try it out. Again, I was wowed. It was so beautiful, and I was sold on the salon and their services.
Overall, I give Warm Springs Day Spa a Spale Score of 9. They have excellent customer service and are quick to provide you with the most relaxing care possible.
Take some time to relax and unwind.
