If you live in Colorado and are interested in giving the ancient Chinese practice of acupuncture a try, then I recommend paying a visit to Fan Acupuncture Clinic. This highly rated clinic has been praised for its caring, professional practitioners and well-maintained, pleasant atmosphere. Just about any medical condition you can think of is treated here, and countless patients report wonderful, healing experiences (including myself). Why not give acupuncture a try and see if it can help you, too?
In case you’re not aware of what acupuncture is, here’s a quick primer. An acupuncturist will insert very thin needles into certain parts of your body to influence energy flow, or chi. It’s thought that energy blockages can influence the body in negative ways and result in pain or illnesses. The goal of acupuncture is to fix any negative energy flows and restore health.
There’s no need to fear acupuncture needles; they do not hurt. You may feel a tingly or numb sensation when they are inserted, which is a sign that your chi has been accessed. Sometimes a practitioner will add heat or electric currents to your treatment. There is no pain involved in this, either. That tingly feeling means your treatment is working!
The Clinic and Its Doctors
Fan Acupuncture Clinic is run by Dr. Dongming Fan, a licensed acupuncturist who received extensive training and his Ph.D. in China, and his wife Dr. Junou Cheng, a licensed acupuncturist with more than 15 years of experience. She specializes in infertility and women’s health issues.
Many patients echo the same sentiment that both doctors are very friendly, compassionate and helpful, but I only talked with Dr. Cheng who was very kind. Everything about this clinic, from the doctors to the effective treatment to the ambiance of the office, receive my high praise and Spale Score of 9. From charming décor to pleasing music, a sense of calm and restoration is pervasive here.
Drs. Fan and Cheng opened their clinic, which has locations in Denver and Boulder, more than eight years ago in order to treat all kinds of ailments and patients through their traditional Chinese medicine techniques. They wanted to offer an alternative to harsh medical treatments for people who are interested in pursuing a non-Western medicine path.
I had went to Dr. Cheng for sinus issues. I have had horrible sinus problems for the past three years, which would give me headaches and even cluster headaches or ear pains. I had originally gone to a general practitioner who put me on Mucinex MD. My congestion was relieved when I was on the medicine but soon after it came back.
My sister who lived in China for a few years suggested I go to this acupuncturist. (I should mention my sister lives in Colorado, hence why I was there visiting.) I was skeptical at first considering I have a slight fear of needles but I’m so glad I went. My sinuses are so much better. My congestion somewhat came back 2 months later but definitely not as bad as before, which was to be expected since I was only there for one treatment. However, I’m planning to find an acupuncturist in my area to finish the treatments. Besides the acupuncture they also gave me herbal medicines to take.
Dr. Fan is a member of the American Association of Oriental Medicine and the Acupuncture Association of Colorado. He has written several books on acupuncture and has garnered many awards for his work.
Fan Acupuncture Clinic is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, which validates clinics’ competency through strict examination standards.
Conditions and How They’re Treated
Countless medical issues are treated by Fan Acupuncture Clinic’s practitioners. Basically if you name it, it can be worked on. Some major health conditions covered here include arthritis, asthma, diabetes, headaches, chronic pain, sinus issues and urinary tract infections. That’s just a partial list; many other conditions can also be treated by acupuncture.
In addition, numerous women’s health issues, such as endometriosis, menopause, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and menstrual problems are all addressed here. Dr. Cheng specializes in infertility treatment, including repeated miscarriages, hormonal imbalances and unexplained infertility.
Typically, your first session for whatever treatment is needed here will take about 90 minutes, including an initial consultation and first treatment. Follow-up sessions will last for about one hour.
As per state law, all acupuncture needles used at Fan Acupuncture Clinic are disposable and are only used one time. The needles are tiny, and different sizes may be used based on your particular condition. What can you expect following treatment? Generally, there are no side effects; mild bruising or sensitivity may be the only things you feel.
Chinese Herbs
Depending upon your condition, the practitioners at Fan Acupuncture Clinic may prescribe Chinese herbal medicines to complement your acupuncture treatment. Herbs come in pill, capsule, powder or raw form. There are no side effects if prescribed correctly based upon your particular issue, and they are optional. I say, it certainly can’t hurt to give them a try!
If you’re interested in giving Chinese herbs a try, no prescription is needed. In fact, Fan Acupuncture Clinic sells these herbs at its online store. Herbal formulas for colds and flu, ovulation issues, pain relief and allergies are all available here, to name a few.
Chinese Massage
You may not think about massage when it comes to an acupuncture clinic, but think again! Fan Acupuncture Clinic offers two kinds of traditional Chinese massages. Tui Na, which is thousands of years old, is a massage and manipulation technique that seeks to give your Chi a harmonious and healing flow. Through a combination of acupuncture, herbs and medical massage, Fan Acupuncture Clinic practitioners aim to heal whatever is ailing you.
For first-rate service, a friendly and professional manner, and a pleasing environment, I highly recommend Fan Acupuncture Clinic. If other methods have failed, or you’re open to trying new things, it only makes sense to give acupuncture a try.
