Let’s face it: skiing is expensive. With all things considered, you could be in for a world of expenses just for a few days or mere hours of fun depending on your level of commitment to the sport. If you, like most everyone, are working with a tight budget it’s key to keep your eyes open for the deals.
Luckily for you, friendly readers, I have been scouring the world wide interweb for mad deals and came up with some pretty interesting offers for the 2013-14 season. For the cheap-o skier in you, may I present my collection of thrifty ski pass promotions in North America. Please be advised that you may be required to wear costumes, pull out some singles, prove your undying love for Japanese made cars, engage in some nauseating PDA or have your mini-me tag along. Proceed at your own risk!
Tremblant (Quebec) celebrates it’s 75th anniversary
So you’ve never been to Canada, eh? Despite the occasional bitterly cold day, skiing at Tremblant is an absolute treat. This year, they are preparing a heck of a bash for their 75th year of operation. Be a part of the fun and take advantage of their ski free offer: until October 14th (soon!), drop by the resort to collect a voucher valid for one lift ticket on February 12th, 2014, the official celebration day.
Jackson Hole (Wyoming), the voted #1 Resort by Ski Magazine readers
For a suggested donation of $1, enjoy access to one of the best resorts in America on November 29th 2013. Be the first to ski JH on Thanksgiving weekend for next to nothing! The resort will match donations, all in the spirit of giving back to the community that they believe won them the title.
Mad deals at Mad River Glen (Vermont)
Skiers rejoice! Though I am typically no fan of segregation, this skiers only mountain has to be one of my favourite places to experience the sport as it used to be. Not only will you regularly see skiers rocking bump lines in retro gear, they also offer a slew of wacky deals to keep things fresh. Try kissing your lover at the ticket counter to ski for $14 on Valentine’s day or wearing green to ski for $17 on St. Patty’s day.
Free turns at Big White (British Columbia)
Big White boasts some of the best early season conditions around. In fact, they are so confident about their opening that they offer a “Snow Guarantee”, allowing you to postpone or cancel your stay at no charge should they be unable to operate lifts. From opening day until December 19th 2013, book accommodation through their central reservations team and receive two free lift tickets.
2014 Toyota Free Ski Fridays (Idaho & Washington)
This promotion makes me long for the days of my trusty ’93 Toyota Corolla. Just by driving up to select Northwest Rockies resorts, you could be skiing for my fave price: $0. This deal is for drivers only and you must arrive in said vehicle, but other than that, there’s no catch! Choose your resort, check the date and drive.
Kids Ski Free at Steamboat (Colorado)
Though many North American resorts offer similar programs, Steamboat’s is one of the most straightforward: ski for five days or more and your kids or grandkids aged 12 and under can tag along for free. Better yet, little ones aged 5 and under always ski free.
