I can’t believe Christmas is right around the corner! Seems like just yesterday I was in Bhutan on a WanderTours trip, but surprisingly that was two months ago. Time has been flying by for me, and I’ll be the first to admit I’m not quite ready for the holiday. If you’re like me and have a couple of last minute gifts to get, consider these goodies listed in my 2013 holiday gift guide that are geared for the active female traveler or outdoor enthusiast.
1. Hydro Flask Insulated Water Bottle
Everyone needs to be reminded to drink water, and investing in a stainless steel one does just that. Hydro Flask’s insulated water bottle comes in a variety of sizes and colors, not to mention your choice of wide mouth or standard size mouth opening. The bottles keep liquids cold for 24 hours and keep hot liquids hot for 12. A useful and environmentally friendly gift for anyone this holiday season. I prefer the 40 oz
($34.99), but 12, 18, 21, 24 and even 64 oz bottles are available.
2. Icebreaker Oasis Long Sleeve Hood Stripe
This merino wool base layer is heaven against your skin. I’m surprised at just how lightweight it is for being so warm, but as always, merino wool continues to surprise me. I say that because I seem to wear it in a number of ways-when I go snowboarding or layered under a vest if I’m heading out to meet friends for drinks-either way it works. The 200 gram merino wool long sleeve ($104.99) is a must have for any outdoor gal.
3. Elemental Herbs All Good Goop
I’m addicted to this stuff. This all natural, organic healing balm seems to be a panacea for all things related to skin irritations. I use it in the wintertime for my dry hands and lips. When I get small cuts, I clean them and then put a spot of All Good Goop on there and presto, heals up real quick. The lavender smell is an added bonus as well. (1 oz container, $8.50)
4. Ex-Officio Travel Underwear
You can never go wrong with gifting a pair of ExOfficio’s Give-N-Go travel underwear. I know that sounds weird, but it’s true. These underwear are quick-drying and a breeze to wash when you’re on the road or in the wilderness. ExOfficio has expanded their selection of colors and cuts, and there is something for everyone. These underwear are a must for travelin’ and adventurin’ ladies, and will be much appreciated I promise. ($18)
5. Columbia Millennium Flash Jacket
The jacket that keeps on giving. This waterproof shell is fantastic for winter outdoor adventures, specifically snow adventures. It has all the bells and whistles to keep you happy while outside-underarm vents to keep you cool, removable powder skirt, ski pass pocket, helmet compatible hood-the list goes on and on. With the Omni-Heat thermal reflective material inside, the jacket reflects your body heat back onto you to keep you even warmer while outside. Thank you technology for helping us to play outside longer.($280)
