I’m a flip flop wearer through and through. It’s the river guide in me. I know, I just talked about this in my last post. Living in Seattle, you can’t wear flip-flops year round. Trust me, I’ve tried.
Much as I miss my sandals, the KEEN Sienna Mary Jane (MJ) shoes are a comfortable, more stylish alternative for springtime in Seattle and city living. They’d also be perfect for bringing to India for walking around the narrow streets if you had a bit of extra room in your luggage.
It’s hard to dress up a t-shirt and jeans. These flats work well in doing just that. The spandex wide strap on the top of the shoe makes it easy to slip on and head out the door. The shoes also provide ample support to your feet, not common in flats. My feet felt just grand after wearing them around for the whole day. This is why I would add these to my packing list for India-not as bulky as sneakers but more support and coverage than flip-flops.
The sole of the shoe grips well, which is important in Seattle. We are known for a certain type of weather, and sunny, bright blue skies is not what I’m talking about. All too often surfaces are slippery, and with these shoes being so low profile, I didn’t know how they would hold up against the rainy, wet weather. I was pleasantly surprised though, these shoes had ample traction and kept me standing up, not laid out on the ground. Good traction in shoes is important when on the road, any traveler would agree.
I happen to like the rubber toe KEEN design featured on many of their shoes, I know some folks are nay-sayers on this style. I think the rubber toe design gives the flats an extra bit of pizzazz, and it protects your toes that much more. For me, these shoes are a suitable alternative to sandals, and can be worn with any casual outfit. The shoes come in a number of fun different colors-Hibiscus, True Khaki, Black and Shaded Spruce. With all the color options, KEEN is twisting my rubber arm to purchase another pair.
The KEEN Sienna MJ shoes retail for $75 and are available at Amazon here.
