Have you ever been to Seward Park? Located in Southeast Seattle, it’s my new favorite place for outdoor fun. This past weekend I met up with an old college friend on the Bailey Peninsula, aka Seward Park, for a, ‘what’s been going on the last five years’ chat. We (along with many other runners, walkers and bikers) enjoyed a brisk walk on a beautifully gray (I’m getting used to this weather) day along the 2.4 mile bike path. Although it’s located in Seattle, I felt far away from the city’s hustle and bustle and calmed by the surrounding water. This place rocks.
The Park in total covers 300 acres and 120 of these acres are old growth trees, primarily Douglas Firs. As much as I loved the bike path, I am SO looking forward to exploring some of the trails inside the park, and seeing these gorgeous forests up close.
When we were there on Sunday morning, there was a ‘family run’ taking place, with parents and kids from a local school running around the bike path. They even had a water/banana stand set up halfway through the run, at 1.2 miles. Just adorable. And for those younger ones, they had an extensive playground, with plenty of little ones enjoying themselves.
I’ll definitely be back here. I want to check out the Seward Park Clay Studio and participate in a walking tour put on by Friends of Seward Park. And now that I live here, I can swing on by whenever I want. I suggest you check it out yourself!
