Steamers Shellfish To Go is one of those dining experiences you’ll remember for years to come. Steamers is located in Corolla, NC on the Outer Banks. I’ve dined at Steamers twice and both times each bite was delicious. My first experience with Steamers were their Steamer Pots to go. These steamer pots contain gourmet seafood spiced and prepared with accompanying vegetables of onion, corn on the cob and potatoes. The steamer pot comes ready to cook in a special steaming container. You take it home and simply add water and cook it for a specified amount of time. We ordered our steamer pot with lobsters and they were amazing. It was one of the best lobster meals I’ve ever tasted. We loved it so much that we returned for an encore lunch on another day. If you check back next week on Wanderfood Wednesday I will detail my other delightful lobster experience on the island of Grand Manan in New Brunswick.
Steamers offers a variety of seafood choices, including Maine lobster, shrimp, snow crab, Alaskan crab, mussels and clams. Steamers offers a choice of having your seafood steamed at the restaurant or prepared ready to cook in “To Go Steamer Pots” Having it steamed at the restaurant offers visitors the cool option of taking prepared seafood to a nearby beach and enjoying a gourmet picnic with a view of the dunes and waves of the outer banks. Another option is to dine at Steamers. They have a few tables inside the restaurant and a few more outside on their waterfront deck. It’s not a large place and they are not equipped for a large crowd of patrons as many folks order steamer pots to go and eat elsewhere. But their lunches are delightful on site and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. For my second meal I ordered seafood bisque with a fish sandwich. Both were very tasty. If you eat at Steamers expect a simple, relaxed atmosphere where you can watch as they prepare seafood orders to go or dine on their waterfront patio for the view. Either way Steamers Shellfish To Go is an experience to remember. Steamers can be found on facebook.
