The first thing you will notice about Maui is the beauty of the island and the warmth of the island people. Soon after you will notice how incredibly expensive it is to eat there. Yikes! Creative, low cost ideas for meals become an essential part of planning when you are staying more than a couple of days. One option that I enjoyed exploring was ethnic food. In many places around the globe ethnic food is substantially cheaper than traditional or tourist fare.
While I was on Maui I enjoyed Pho Saigon 808, which is found on Front St. in Lahaina. Here is a map view. It is tucked away in a little shopping area on the main strip but once discovered it is a gem to return to for Vietnamese food. Having lived in the pacific for several years I grew to love Vietnamese food and especially Vietnamese Beef Wraps; finding them became my mission as I remembered the delightful flavor from my days on Guam.
On Maui I enjoyed Pho Saigon’s Menu it offers diversity, flavor and a low price. This family owned restaurant provides excellent food and service. I enjoyed talking to the owners during my visits and felt like I had found a little piece of Asia in Pho Saigon 808. Here you’ll find a recipe for Vietnamese Beef Wraps similar to the ones I enjoyed at Pho Saigon 808 on the island of Maui.
