For many years the idea of a hammock to relax in has been my dream. Particulary in the years I spent land locked dreaming of tropical island escapes; a hammock chair would have been a delight. It seemed as if I never had a large enough living space to create a hammock haven in my home, so my dream was put aside.
Last week I created my dream spot with the help of a couple relatives and a lot of laughter! My hammock chair came from a trip I took to Mexico; now it hangs in my bedroom near a window with a great view. I already love it! Just spending five minutes swinging calms me and brings my soul a bit of the island feeling I treasure.
The entire project took less than a half hour, if you subtract the two trips to a home improvement store because we bought two items that were the wrong size. Be certain your quick link opens wide enough to allow you to connect your chain.
Necessary items to hang a hammock chair
1. A link chain that holds a substantial amount of weight. We chose a chain that holds 540 lbs.
2. A long screw eye bolt that screws into the beam of your ceiling. This must also hold the weight of a person.
3. A quick link; which looks similar to a single link of chain, but unscrews to allow you to connect it to both the screw eye bolt and the chain links. This too must hold the weight of a person.
4. AÂ hammock chair
5.  Stud finder to find your ceiling beam.
6. A drill, to start the hole in the ceiling where the screw eye bolt will be placed.
7. A screw driver, to help create torque when screwing in the screw eye bolt.
