I’m a big fan of “lifehacking” articles and a total sucker for any headline that begins with “5 Ways To Improve…” In fact, I probably could have ran a marathon and published 20 blog posts in the time I’ve wasted reading articles titled “5 Things Productive People Do” or “3 Things You Aren’t Doing But You Should Be, You Lazy Slob.”
One very productive travel hack I recently stumbled on is worth sharing. Rocketmiles is a hotel booking site that partners with 15 major airlines to offer miles for every night booked at participating hotels. A Rocketmiles partnership helps hotels fill empty rooms and gives the traveler an opportunity to earn miles with their preferred airline loyalty account.
I almost used Rocketmiles to book a hotel for my stay in Southern Thailand but the rates were a little pricy for my backpacker budget. However, if you’re expecting normal hotel rates then I highly recommend checking with Rocketmiles first. I did some research for an upcoming trip my parents are taking to Seattle, Wash. For a hotel stay in Lower Queen Anne near the Seattle Center, they could earn 9,000 miles on Alaska Airlines. A round trip flight from Great Falls, MT, the closest airport to my folks, and Seattle, Wash. is usually 50,000 miles. After six hotel bookings through Rocketmiles they could earn enough miles for a free flight to Seattle….and that’s being conservative. For destinations like Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco you could earn over 15,000 miles for a reasonable – for those destinations – priced hotel.
Don’t just take my word for it. Check out Rocketmiles before you book your next destination! Disclaimer: I have included my referral link throughout the post, which rewards me 1,000 miles for every person who books.
As a marketing geek, I also LOVE that Rocketmiles has an awesome Pinterest presence. They use the Postcards from You board to share postcards sent from users from their Rocketmiles destinations around the world. For every postcard you send to Rocketmiles, they’ll award you an extra 1,000 miles. Very cool social component to a rewards program!
Have you used Rocketmiles or any other travel rewards program in the past? Tell us about it in the comment section below!
