I’m getting so excited about leading the upcoming WanderTours trip to Vietnam and Cambodia in March, it’s literally around the corner! I’ll be meeting fifteen women and our local guide in Hanoi on the 23rd and visiting such destinations as Sapa, Halong Bay, Angkor Wat just to name a few of the highlights. This will be my third time leading the Vietnam and Cambodia WanderTours trip and my fourth time visiting these countries.
It’s been a while since I’ve been back, so I’ve been getting ready by reading my notes from previous trips, and of course looking at old photos of my time there. Here are just a few of my favorites, taken from my first travel to Vietnam back in 2010. I spent most of my time during this trip on the back of a motorbike, seeing the countryside in the central highlands. I was traveling solo on that trip, and this afforded me the chance to have more one-on-one interactions with the locals, more so than when I’m leading a tour. I have such fond memories of that trip, and those trips that followed as well. I’m looking forward to meeting the new group in just a few weeks!
I was wandering the stalls in the morning in a local market near Ho Chi Minh City when stopped to chat with this woman. I caught her just starting her day as many of us do, reading her paper and getting settled for the work day.
A quick coffee break while on the road near Dalat. These friendly folks waved to me as I headed back on the road.
Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a popular destination for travelers in Northern Vietnam. The rock formations are amazing to look at while floating by boat, and there’s so much to explore in the many limestone caves that are located here as well.
