I don’t think I’m being a fear-monger when I say that safety and security should be your number one concern when you travel. Not to the point of paranoia, of course, but to the degree that you feel confident enough that you and your items are secure. When you feel secure, you’re more likely to have confidence in most situations, especially if you’re traveling solo. And even more so if you’re a woman, when protecting yourself and your personal items are of utmost concern.
Therefore, I do love items that provide a bit of extra protection during my travels. Items like this carry-on bag from PacSafe or PacSafe’s Slingsafe Purse. Both of these have safety features that will keep would-be thieves away from your treasured items. Check ’em out and then come back for this review.
With safety in mind, you should know about P^cubed Pick-Pocket Proof Pants for women.
These pants are loaded with safety features that are probably best to show rather than to try to describe…
The two back pockets are secured with buttons. Though I don’t think I’ve kept anything in my back pocket since I carried a comb there in eight grade, it’s still good to know that no one will be reaching back there for anything 🙂
The side pockets are also secured with buttons. I find these a handy place to keep receipts after a purchase or as a safe place for my lucky coins (yup, I’ve got ’em – ask me about them when you see me). These side pockets are also the perfect size for your passport. And because they’re on the side, it means that when you sit down, they won’t get bent like they would in your front pocket or back pocket.
In the inside front pockets, there’s a little extra pouch. Though this inset pocket seems small, it definitely will fit your iPhone (as long as your case isn’t too big).
The main front pockets have an interesting feature as well. Rather than zipping down when you open them, they zip up to open. I thought this was odd until I asked Adam, the owner of P^cubed, about this unique feature. He explained that because it’s easier to feel a zipper being zipped upward (open in this case) you’re more likely to catch a pick-pocket in action than if he (or she) were unzipping it downward.
OH! And they roll up into capris! Double bonus for travel in Asia and other warm countries where you may need longer pants to keep away the mosquitoes or to simply be more conservative in a temple.
What I Love
- The fit. I can’t say that I’ve ever purchased a pair of travel pants that fit just right. At 5’2″, I always have to have them altered. Also, these don’t make my a$$ look flat like other travel pants I own.
- The fabric. The fabric is Nature-Like Nylon. It feels soft like cotton but is lightweight and quick-drying. Two must-have properties when I travel.
- And, of course, I love the security features and having extra pockets to stash items I’d like to have quick access to. I’m already looking forward to wearing these in Papua New Guinea next year, where safety is, sadly, a concern.
The women’s P^cubed Pick-Pocket Proof Pants are available on the Clothing Arts website for about $100. That might seem pricey until you start shopping around for similar travel pants – you’ll find the same cost for pants that don’t even have the safety features.
One note – sizes are true. Meaning, there’s not a lot of give in the size like there is with most other clothing manufacturers that call it a smaller size but make it larger so we can all feel better about our waistlines 🙂
Travel Well,

I just stumbled upon your site via tweeter and browsed this article. I’m the total opposite with security, way to trusting and flighty. I may as well walk around with a tattoo on my forehead to please rob me. I think I may have to purchase a pair of those trousers to take some of the pressure off my wife who bares all the security issues due to my impractical carefree demeanor. Nice piece by the way.

I’ve heard of these before and wondered what they’re like. They sound great but I’d be interested to see them tested in, say, Rome or Barcelona, with pocketfuls of cash, passport and phone to really put them to the test! Although I don’t think I’ll volunteer as guinea pig for that one, despite the fact that they do sound pretty secure!

Elle – I wouldn’t stuff any pockets, P^cubed or not, full of cash anywhere. But carrying around my passport and phone in these? I’d feel totally confident in doing so.

Don’t carry your passport at all if you can help it…..make a copy….or I have an international drivers licence…..I was told to carry this…and i’m not planning to rent a car….good i.d…but keep your passport way more secured if you can!

Would you say these pants are high-, mid- or low-rise?
Beth Whitman says
I’d say they’re mid to low, Helen.
